The Fallen Angel - Qais Kambeer

I always say vilains are'nt born, they are made.

As I closed the cover on the novel Bismil, I couldn't shake off the lingering presence of Qais Kambeer, the complex and conflicted antagonist. His character is a masterful creation, woven from threads of vulnerability, intensity, and a deep sense of humanity. In this blog, I'll delve into the intricacies of Qais's character, exploring what makes him both fascinating and heartbreaking.

 Who is Qais Kambeer?

Qais is a black eyed, curly haired and a hardworking guy who has a love for guns and embodies the traits of a ruthless and cunning villain, driven by a desire for power and control. His actions are often calculated and manipulative, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

And yet, as the narrative unfolds, we catch glimpses of a deeply wounded and vulnerable individual. Qais's past is marked by trauma and loss, shaping his worldview and informing his actions.

The Love that haunts him:
One of the most poignant aspects of Qais's character is his all-consuming love for Zeeniya. Their relationship is complex and multifaceted, marked by moments of tenderness, passion, and heart-wrenching tragedy.

Qais's dialogues about Zeeniya are particularly revealing, offering a glimpse into the depths of his emotional pain:

"Zeeniya is the sunshine that brightens my darkest days. She is the calm in every storm, the safe haven where I can be myself. Without her, I am nothing but a hollow shell, a mere specter of a man."

In another poignant moment, Qais confesses:

"I love Zeeniya more than life itself. I would do anything to protect her, to keep her safe from harm. But I am also the one who has hurt her the most. I am the monster that haunts her dreams."

The immense love of Qais was a tragedy which not only destroyed Zeeniya but also two big families. It will not be wrong to say that he set the world on fire in her love. They would've made a perfect power couple only if they were made for each other.

His Self Awareness:
Although corrupt Qais was awared of his actions, only that he knew how to justify his actions.
This dialogue of him is really heart-touching and I can't seem to have control over myself to not have sympathy for him.

"I am not a good person, I know. I have done terrible things. But I am not a monster either. I am just a man, broken and flawed, trying to survive in a world that seems determined to crush me."

Qais Kambeer chose himself over his love and ended up in a tragic death. He didn't deserve to die. He deserved a chance at life but the tragedy, he never stopped justifying his sins.
